Our nation is in the midst of a historic border crisis. In August, there were 203,597 illegal immigration encounters at our southern border making it the 18th consecutive month with over 150,000 illegal border crossings. Clearly, our immigration system is broken and the Biden Administration and House Democrats’ open-border policies have only exacerbated the crisis at our southern border.
We must have a comprehensive immigration plan that combats the massive influx of migrants at our border. I’ve been working with my Republican colleagues to find real solutions to address the border crisis and securing our nation.
We have a plan for restoring order at our southern border:
- Fully fund effective border enforcement strategies, infrastructure, and advanced technology to prevent illegal crossings and trafficking by cartels.
- End catch-and-release loopholes.
- Require proof of legal status to get a job.
- Eliminate welfare incentives.
Border security is national security, and without a strong border, we are putting our entire country at risk. Know that I’m focused on ensuring that our nation’s immigration laws are enforced, our immigration programs work properly, and that we provide the resources for law enforcement officials and Border Patrol agents to get their jobs done and will continue to work with my colleagues to secure our border and keep Americans safe.
